—Let me go once and for all —Tania shouted desperately. She was tied to a chair by her hands and feet, blindfolded. She perceived no smell, nor did she hear anything; she only felt that the temperature was somewhat cold, while she splashed in the water with her bare feet. She knew she was only wearing her underwear, a situation that set her heart racing, since she was there against her will. She had spent hours shouting, but gave up when she felt tired. While breathing audibly from the effort, she fell silent upon noticing her thirst increasing; she had to save her strength and stay alert in case someone came for her.
Tania’s fear increased even more when she remembered that in the city nine women had died gagged, and had been found naked over the course of two months. Terrified by the situation, she prepared to scream again, but she couldn’t, because she heard the voice she was sure she knew.
—You finally stopped screaming… What’s wrong with you, Tania? Don’t you like this game? I thought you’d like it. Is this how you usually play, or not?
—Santiago, is that you? —Tania asked, astonished that her husband’s best friend had her in these circumstances—. Do me the damn favor… Let me go and get me out of here! —Tania didn’t understand anything about what was happening, so she kept shouting at him—. Are you crazy? What do you think Renzo will think of all this you’re doing?
All the fear Tania felt instantly turned into annoyance, upon realizing the bad joke that son of a bitch Santiago was playing on her. The fact that he scared her like this was unheard of for her. He used to play heavy pranks, but never to these extremes.
—Do I have to worry about your questions? Renzo is a fool who isn’t aware of your filthy deeds, of that double life you lead… I don’t think he’ll be worried precisely today because you’re late! —Santiago’s ironic tone sent a shiver down Tania’s spine.
She began to move forcefully in the chair, hoping to free herself. But she ended up falling to one side, hitting her face hard. Santiago just looked at her with half a smile on his face, shaking his head with an air of satisfaction.
—How do you know I have a double life? Do you have proof of that? —as she spoke the questions, Tania realized she was accepting Santiago’s insinuations. Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy for her to try to free herself and keep up her lie cleverly. Her anger increased and she told him in whispers full of irony—. You’re a big son of a bitch, a busybody. Why don’t you go find yourself a woman? I’ll give you some advice… focus your life on your own and stop meddling in other people’s… Do you like Renzo? Keep him, but leave me alone!
Santiago, smiling broadly, knelt down to be close to her. She didn’t know what awaited her; he was truly aroused by the whole situation. If Tania could see him, she would realize Santiago’s erection was prominent.
—I’m not doing, nor will I do, what you ask me, because honestly, I like this —Santiago’s whisper was accompanied by the deep cut he made on Tania with a sharp dagger, between her knee and her ankle, running along her whole thigh… making the blood overflow around the body of a Tania petrified by pain. The screams of the incredible painful sensation echoed throughout the place.
—That’s… right… that’s how I like it… come on… scream much more… Come on, scream louder! —Santiago said as he plunged the cutting weapon again along the belly of an agonizing Tania.
The spasms of her body were clearly visible; it was clear the blood loss and the cold of the room were not a good combination.
—Help… someone help me —Tania shouted, moving in her own blood.
Santiago hugged her to remove the blindfold covering her eyes.
—Look at me, I want you to know who I really am… I’m the killer. The one we talked about a few days ago… nobody has realized who I really am… you should be glad to find out… because the truth always brings happiness, doesn’t it?
—Let me go, I beg you —Tania’s tears began to run down her face, washing her bloodied cheek a little.
—No. I won’t. I take care of killing liars like you.
—But… if you… are… you’re another liar… a killer —Tania vomited blood from the evident effort she made to speak. She was sure this would be the last minute of her life, since she no longer felt much of her body.
—You’re right, beloved Tania, I’m as much a liar as you are; lies kill; the difference is that this time… the dead one will be you.
The End
