Good morning!

“To commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the publication of this little piece of writing, I share it again today.” I like it, because it left me a personal lesson that has been very useful to me. And I know that today it may leave someone the same thing it once taught me.

Contradictory Circumstances in Love

Breaking someone’s heart is easier than healing your own. We all expose ourselves to painful suffering when we start loving someone. The situation can be even more difficult when we feel love for a person who doesn’t love us the same way. The other person takes control, becoming the one who wounds your soul and makes you feel bad.

Being exposed before someone leaves us vulnerable. The heart will always be right, sometimes leaving us like a person without hands, eyes, or ears, always at the mercy of our desires and feelings.

Loving sometimes with such intensity can be dangerous. It will never be good to give yourself without limits, because that makes you vulnerable. Sooner or later, you’ll accept that disappointments will tear your soul out by the roots and leave you a void so deep that it may cost you a lot to fill it.

Sadness is not the worst state of the soul, for if you’re able to overcome it, it will make you mature and grow. You’ll feel deep pain, you’ll drown in memories that cause you pain, and you’ll end up sunk in a sea of need for that being who has been stronger than you and has known how to cope better with the circumstances.

That being may not be capable of loving. They may prefer to be like that, having you little by little and not valuing everything you can give them. But one thing I can assure you: it’s better to have loved and been shattered than to be whole and never have let yourself be loved.

Feelings in life can be contradictory. Circumstances can make you feel you’ve become a being without feelings and without the capacity to love. But don’t overwhelm yourself, don’t distress yourself. Allow yourself once more to love, to give your feelings. It doesn’t matter if you love without measure and become the weak one, or if you’re a giver of feelings with an intensity meter and you’re the strong one. The special thing is that you, little by little, learn from mistakes and stumbles what your capacity to love is, so you can mature and grow internally, and so that in the future you don’t make the same mistakes.
